Mass Fun and Games
Participation Policy
Effective November 1, 2010
By joining Mass Fun and Games, you agree to the policies in this document. Please read these guidelines prior to your first event with us. We hope that by laying down a few ground rules, we can continue to be one of the most popular groups on Meetup!
Event ParticipationMass Fun and Games has a unique mixture of gaming and social networking. This formula has made us one of the most highly-rated groups on Meetup, and is very successful way to make new friends. However, these activities only work when you come to events! As a result, we hope that all of our members participate in our events on a semi-regular basis.
To guarantee that all of our members are active, please note that all members are required to:
- RSVP for at least one meetup within three months of joining
- Attend at least one event within six months of joining
- Log into the Mass Fun and Games website at least once every six months
Any member that does not contribute to the group through events, or fails to meet the requirements listed above will be listed as '
inactive' and may be removed from the group without notice.
Our "NO-SHOW" PolicyMeetup made a change to our website that removed the option to RSVP MAYBE. There are now only two "RSVPs": COUNT ME IN and NO THANKS. Please do not RSVP "Yes" if you are not sure you can make it. If you are a MAYBE and sign up for an event, we may need to remove your RSVP to give to someone who has committed to going and wants to attend.
Some venues have limit seating. Please come to an event only if you have signed up for it. We cannot guarantee you'll get a spot otherwise.
A "no-show" cancellation is when you RSVP "COUNT ME IN" for an event but fail to attend it. Many of our vents are at restaurants and other venues which require a headcount from the venue owner. A no-show hurts the group as it takes a spot away from a member who is willing to come, and prevents organizers from getting a fair headcount for their events. Not cool.
If you RSVP "COUNT ME IN" for an event, and cannot make it, we ask that change your RSVP to "CAN'T GO" a reasonable amount of time before the event so that another member can take your spot.
Members who "no-show" for three events in succession, or abuse the attendance feature (such as having an abnormally high number of no-shows, or chronically cancel at the last minute) may be given lower priority on certain events (such as events at an organizer's home, or our "special events"), or may be removed from the group completely, without prior notice. So please use your RSVP's responsibly.
The Waiting ListOn occasion, a popular event will fill up, and a
Waiting List will be available. Although the rules of who gets put on the guest list may differ from an event, when you sign up for the Waiting List, it is assumed that you will be available to make the event. You can get moved up at any time, so if you don't show up because of not realized you were moved off the Waiting List, you will still be considered a
No-Show.
Keeping It Fun and Safe!We are a fun-loving social bunch :) If you are friendly and like meeting new people, then you will love our group! Although we are inclusive and welcome members from all walks of life, we actively try to make sure that all members fit in and contribute to the group in some positive way. We take the physical and online privacy and security of our members very seriously.
This is a public group, and we understand your need for privacy, but a profile picture is strongly suggested so that the Organizers can recognize you when you come to events. Profiles that indicate you are not a real, "in the flesh" human being will be declined.
Although we have many singles in our group, we are not a means for you to find a date. Please do not join if this is your primary intention for coming to events.
Members reported to have abused, disrespected, harassed and/or spammed any other member will be removed from our group. Please contact Tony or Connie if you have a issue to report.
